For years I have done visual research on the luminosity of metal reflected in different shapes in order to escape the confines of drawing only what sits in front of me. I've studied my own rings and earrings, my son's magnetic marbles, a myriad of photographs of metal and chrome, chrome logos on cars, and anything I've been able to get my hands on. The combination of subtle gradients and graceful reflections give gold, platinum, and any shaped metals their beauty. This ornament is designed and fabricated by the artist to represent a simple gold ball for Christmas. It is encrusted with a single repeated diamond, adorned with a hook, and hung with a gold ribbon adapted for 18k coloring.
