Portrait engraving of James II of England and Ireland (1633 - 1701). James was also James VII of Scotland. He was the last Roman Catholic monarch to reign over the Kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Even after his conversion to Catholicism, James associated mainly with Anglicans and French Protestants such as Louis de Duras, the Earl of Feversham.
